A heat wave will begin tomorrow and continue throughout the weekend and almost all of next week. Temperatures in the mountains and eastern parts of the country are expected to be very high, approaching 40 degrees on most upcoming days. A further increase in temperatures may occur toward the middle of next week. It appears that the sequence of scorching days in the current wave will be exceptional. According to the Meteorological Service director, Dr. Amir Givati, temperatures will reach 49 degrees in the Jordan Valley. According to Meteorological Service data, heat waves with temperatures above 35 degrees for a consecutive week have occurred in the last 75 years only in May and September 2020, and previously only in the 19th century in Jerusalem (1881, 1888).
