The United States has imposed sanctions on nine individuals aiding the Hezbollah organization in Lebanon. State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott announced this today. The list of individuals includes Lebanese parliament members, an Iranian diplomat and senior officials in the Lebanese security establishment "who exploited their positions for the benefit of the terrorist organization." According to the announcement, the move comes as part of efforts to curb the violation of state sovereignty and advance the disarmament of the organization. In parallel, the State Department's 'Rewards for Justice' program is offering a monetary reward of up to ten million dollars to anyone who provides information leading to the disruption of Hezbollah's financial mechanisms.
