Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman MK Yuli Edelstein addressed the agreements with the ultra-Orthodox regarding the military service exemption law crisis, stating: "I am happy to announce that after lengthy discussions, we have reached agreements on the principles upon which the draft law proposal will be based. As I said throughout the process - only a genuine, effective proposal that expands the recruitment base for the IDF will come out of the committee under my leadership. I stood firm on this without compromises. This is a historic announcement and we are on the way to a real correction in Israeli society and strengthening Israel's security. Soon the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee will begin discussions on the law and its advancement toward second and third readings. We are on the way to making history."
