Police on High Court ruling regarding number of protest participants: 'Hundreds of officers forced to desecrate Shabbat'

|
The police responded to the Judicial Authority's announcement, which explained why the High Court's decision on the number of participants in protests against the war was issued during Shabbat. "Let us set the record straight - contrary to what is claimed, in practice the Israel Police presented its position to the High Court before the start of Shabbat," it was stated. "Moreover, and contrary to what is claimed, only the Home Front Command was asked to present a proposed framework for holding the protests. On a final note, but not least in importance, we emphasize that in light of the High Court's decision and for its implementation, hundreds of police officers were deployed while risking their lives and were even forced to desecrate Shabbat."
