Retired Air Force general says goals can be achieved economically, not militarily

The closing of the Strait of Hormuz is what led to further negotiations between Iran and the United States, according to Robert S. Spalding III, a retired United States Air Force brigadier general.
“The Islamic Republic will have to feel the pain before they decide to negotiate,” he told ILTV last week. “Every negotiation requires leverage. If you want to get what you're looking for, it doesn't have to come militarily. It can come economically.”
