The American embassy in Beirut issued a statement urging citizens to reconsider any plans to travel to Lebanon amid "an insecure environment" adding the Lebanese government cannot ensure the safety of Americans if violence breaks out. The embassy also said Americans in Lebanon must not travel to the borders with Israel or Syria or to the refugee camps.
