A 12-year-old girl was seriously wounded in Bnei Brak after being hit by shrapnel from a cluster missile fired by Iran toward central Israel early Wednesday, as Houthis and Hezbollah also launched attacks on the country, officials said.
Iran fired a limited barrage of missiles toward central Israel, triggering sirens across the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, the Sharon, the Shfela, Lachish and parts of the West Bank.
Impact site in Tel Aviv
Explosions were heard across the region after what was described as a cluster missile, which disperses multiple submunitions. Initial reports indicated several impacts in Bnei Brak and Tel Aviv, including damage to a building in Bnei Brak. Two additional people were reported lightly wounded.
The IDF said it had identified the launches from Iran shortly before the sirens were activated, issuing advance warnings to civilians.
Separately, Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen fired a missile toward southern Israel, triggering alerts across wide areas. The IDF said the missile was intercepted, and Magen David Adom reported no injuries.
In northern Israel, Hezbollah launched rockets and drones toward communities in the Upper Galilee, setting off sirens in areas including Kiryat Shmona, Safed, Rosh Pinna and Hatzor Haglilit. Residents were instructed to enter protected spaces before later being cleared to leave shelters.
There were no immediate additional confirmed reports of casualties.
Earlier, the IDF said it had completed a “wide” wave of strikes targeting infrastructure of the Iranian regime in Tehran.
