Herzog to attend COP 28, meet on releasing hostages

As part of the State of Israel's ongoing efforts to secure the release of all the hostages held by Hamas, President Isaac Herzog will fly to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, where he will hold a series of diplomatic meetings with a number of world leaders as part of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28). According to the president's office, the purpose and focus of the meetings is to highlight and stress to world leaders in a clear and in-depth manner the atrocities committed by the terrorist organization Hamas during the abhorrent massacre perpetrated against Israel on October 7, and to emphasize the fundamental security threat faced by Israel and the country's duty to undertake military action to defend its people. "The president intends to engage world leaders in a high level humanitarian effort to return the hostages held by Hamas, while he will also emphasize Israel's ongoing humanitarian efforts, which are an integral part of the overall campaign," according to the statement.
