President Reuven Rivlin has issued a statement in a press conference on Wednesday, calling for citizens and leaders alike to respect the authority of the High Court of Justice after outgoing Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein refused to follow a High Court Ruling to convene the Knesset plenum to vote on his replacement.
"Despite the deep fissure between the camps and despite the ferocious rhetoric between the sides, I know that the vast majority of Israel’s leadership, from left and from right, knows that it is the duty of every one of us to obey the rulings of the courts and that it is inconceivable that anyone would not do so," said Rivlin.
