Health Ministry said Saturday that Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine is 99.2% effective in preventing patients from developing serious complications from COVID-19 and 98.9% effective in preventing death.
"We are the first country in the world to demonstrate the effect of the coronavirus vaccine in a real clinical trial," said Health Ministry Director-General Prof. Hezi Levi.
The research also shows the vaccine is 95.8% effective in preventing infection, 98% in preventing development of fever or respiratory symptoms and 98.9% in preventing hospitalizations due to disease.
