IDF probe finds rotor malfunction cause of last year's fatal helicopter crash

|
The IDF published Sunday evening the findings of a probe into a Eurocopter AS565 Panther helicopter crash that killed two pilots.
According to the report, the incident occurred due to a malfunction in the left engine, which caused a fire that then spread to the right engine as well, and smoke entered the crew compartment. As a result, the helicopter lowered quickly and crashed into the ocean.
The malfunction was caused by the wear and tear of a component in the helicopter's engine, due to the poor quality of the component manufactured by a French manufacturer.
