Israeli national freed military operation in Nigeria after kidnapping for ransom

An Israeli national working in Africa was kidnapped in Nigeria over the weekend in a suspected ransom attempt and later rescued by the local military with the involvement of Israel’s Foreign Ministry.
The Israeli embassy and the Foreign Ministry coordinated with Nigerian authorities, who secured the man’s release without gunfire and without paying ransom. The man was rescued unharmed.
Nigerian police, quoted in local media, initially claimed the Israeli was abducted while under military escort, a claim the Nigerian military has since denied.
