Romania's Senate approves May 15 as day of celebration for Israel's independence

On Tuesday night, the Romanian Senate approved a bill titled "Solidarity with Israel" which designates May 15 as a day of celebration for Israel's independence. The proposal passed with a majority of 101 members of the Senate versus one abstention, but it still requires the approval of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies. If the proposal is finally approved, the parliament will hold a festive meeting every year to mark Israel's independence on May 15, as will all Romanian embassies in the world. (Itamar Eichner)
