Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump are expected to discuss the next steps for Gaza during their meeting at the end of the month.
According to former ambassador Michael Oren, the goal is to pressure Turkey and Qatar to push Hamas to give up its weapons in some form.
“If that's not going to happen, what is Israel to do and what are the next steps forward with regard to Gaza?” Oren asked.
