The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, reported citing sources in Egypt that discussions were held between the U.S. and Cairo amid fear of the consequences of the war in Lebanon, and in the shadow of the opening of new fronts "that will be difficult to stop." The newspaper stated that according to the Egyptians "all attempts to contain the escalation failed," and that Cairo is examining means to evacuate its citizens who are in Lebanon using special flights.
