Danon on Bahrain's failed Hormuz protection proposal: Most nations committed to freedom of navigation

|
Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, addressed the veto imposed by China and Russia on Bahrain's proposal in the UN Security Council to protect the Strait of Hormuz. "Even if the resolution did not pass, the broad majority that supported it reflects the commitment of most countries in the world to ensure freedom of navigation and to stand against attempts to threaten international trade routes," he said. The draft resolution, which failed due to the veto, stated that Iran's actions in the strait constitute a threat to international peace and security and called for an immediate cessation of threats to freedom of navigation.
