The Union of Social Workers announced an expansion of sanctions as part of a labor dispute concerning the implementation of the Welfare Services for People with Disabilities Law. As part of the new organizational measure, social workers in local authorities will not cooperate with the Welfare Ministry's pilot program scheduled to begin in October. As a result, people with disabilities who are supposed to start receiving new services they are entitled to under the new law will not receive them. The decision to expand the sanctions was made after the Welfare Ministry failed to present a solution to the heavy workloads created by the implementation of the Welfare Services for People with Disabilities Law and did not commit to the additional staff and resources required.
