A meeting between Iran and Gulf states scheduled to take place Monday in Oman is not expected to result in an agreement on passage through the Strait of Hormuz. An Iranian official told Reuters news agency. The official noted that the Monday meeting was convened at Oman's initiative and will serve as a forum to discuss additional regional issues alongside the Strait of Hormuz matter. According to him, Iran is still interested in an agreement that would allow it to collect fees from ships passing through the strait – a demand that Oman rejects.
