Syrian judoka Ziad Aun, who was scheduled to participate in the Tel Aviv Grand Prix 2020 as part of the refugee team, announced on Thursday that he will not compete due to death threats he received in recent days.
Aun says he received dozens of threats to his life and family after a post in Arabic published by the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem began circulating in Iran and the Netherlands, where he lives today.
Aun has filed a complaint with Dutch police over the threats.
