Retired judge Jacob Turkel, who served as an Israeli Supreme Court justice between 1995 and 2005, died on Monday at the age of 88. After retiring from the judiciary, he chaired the Turkel Commission of Inquiry into the Gaza flotilla raid and also served as a member of the Committee of Judicial Appointments. For eight years he headed a committee tasked with vetting people appointed to senior government positions. (Ynet)
