Released hostage: 'We walked for miles in underground tunnels, they beat me with sticks'

Yocheved Lifshitz, who was released Monday night from Hamas captivity, said Tuesday from Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv that on the day of the kidnapping "we walked for kilometers on wet ground. There was a large network of underground tunnels that look like spider webs." She also said: "They drove through the plowed fields and during the drive, people beat me with sticks. They took my watch. When we got there, they told us that they believed in the Koran and that they would not harm us. There was humidity in the tunnels all the time." On her time in captivity: "There was a medic and a doctor also came. We lay there on mattresses and they took great care of the sanitary side, that we didn't get sick. A doctor came every two or three days to see what was going on with us. They made sure we had everything, they were very friendly." (Adir Yanko)
