IDF airstrike kills senior Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon

The Israeli Air Force killed Jaafar Khader Faour, Hezbollah’s head of missile and rocket operations for the Nasser unit, in an airstrike on the southern Lebanese village of Jouaiyya, the IDF reported Saturday.
The IDF confirmed that Faour, who also led the unit’s drone operations, directed rocket fire from eastern Lebanon into Israel on October 8, 2023.
According to the IDF, Faour was responsible for rocket attacks on Israel’s Golan Heights, killing a couple in Kibbutz Ortal; strikes on Majdal Shams that resulted in the deaths of 12 children and teenagers; and shelling in Metula, which killed five farmers.
