U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the security incident at an event for White House correspondents in Washington, writing on his social media platform Truth Social: "A serious evening in Washington. The Secret Service and law enforcement did a great job. They acted swiftly and courageously. The shooter was apprehended and I recommended that 'the show go on,' but guidance will be provided by the law enforcement system. They will make a decision soon. Regardless of this decision, the evening will be very different from what was planned and we will simply have to do it again."
