Yesh Atid representatives met with President Issac Herzog on Wednesday, for consultations on who should head the news government.
They recommended leader Yair Lapid for the role and said they would not back Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu.
Herzog asked if they see an opening for a national unity government, to which Economy Minister Orna Barbivai replied the party believes a person under criminal indictment should not become prime minister. "We will not be selling out the values upon which we established the outgoing government, and will be serving in the opposition if need be," she said.
