The Arabic-language London-based newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported that an Egyptian source shared details of a revised proposal submitted by Cairo to break the deadlock and reach a cease fire in Gaza. According to the source, the plan includes the release of eight living hostages in exchange for a 40- to 70-day cease fire. One hostage would be released each day, with Israel halting its strikes and allowing aid in beginning with the first release.
