Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who took an aggressive stance against Israel following the bombings in the Gaza Strip, wrote on the social media platform X that "If we have to suspend relations with Israel - we will suspend relations. We do not support genocide." This after the Colombian ambassador to Israel was summoned to a reprimand call following "the hostile and antisemitic statements of the president of Colombia against the State of Israel." Meanwhile, Israel decided to stop defense exports to Colombia, but Petro was not impressed and wrote in response: "One day the IDF and the government of Israel will ask us for forgiveness for what their people did in our country. I will hug them and they will cry over the murder in Auschwitz and Gaza, and also over the Colombian Auschwitz." (Ynet)
