A senior French diplomat addressed the recognition of a Palestinian state by Britain, Canada and Australia, saying that "France is already working on the second wave of recognition, after the current wave that will include about ten countries." According to him, "it won't end with this. We believe that Japan will eventually recognize a Palestinian state." France is among the countries leading international support for recognition of a Palestinian state, and it is expected to announce French recognition of Palestine at the UN General Assembly meeting.
