The trial of soccer legend Diego Maradona's doctors, who were charged with negligent homicide, has been declared invalid and cancelled, according to Argentine media reports. Maradona died in 2020, and seven members of his medical team were charged with causing his death. Last Tuesday, the judge handling the case resigned amid accusations of ethical code violations after being filmed giving an interview to a documentary crew in court corridors. In a statement delivered at the San Isidro courthouse, the chief justice ruled that the legal proceedings are cancelled. "Judge Julieta McKintach did not act in a fair and independent manner, which harmed both the prosecution and defense," he said.
