French President Emmanuel Macron announced on his X account that he spoke with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa. In an Arabic tweet, he wrote: "The recent violence in Syria serves as a reminder of the extreme fragility of the transition phase. It is essential to protect civilians, prevent the recurrence of such violence, and bring those responsible to justice." According to him, "The ceasefire in As-Suwayda is a positive sign. Calm dialogue must pave the way for achieving Syrian unity and ensuring the rights of all its citizens. We discussed the need to reach a political solution in cooperation with local actors. We also discussed contacts with Israel and reaffirmed our support for cooperation to achieve stability on the Syria-Lebanon border."
