The office of opposition leader Yair Lapid responded to a Likud statement that claimed Lapid is abandoning state security. According to Lapid's office, "Likud is lying again and abandoning state security. As stated in the closed-door meeting, in the presence of IDF representatives, Lapid supports transferring the funds to the security establishment. The IDF must be given all the necessary tools to complete its missions. Lapid insists on his demand that the budgetary source for these funds not come from raising taxes and increasing the burden on the working and serving public, but rather at the expense of the corrupt coalition funds and the billions that go every year to finance ultra-Orthodox draft evasion."
