The Tax Authority has opened the option to file claims for compensation for direct damage caused to business property or to a business owner's residence as a result of protection money extortion (protection racket), between the dates of September 24, 2026 and November 23, 2026. Eligibility for compensation is contingent, among other things, on having a business license and on having filed a police complaint regarding the protection racket extortion. The claim must be filed online with the Compensation Fund at the Tax Authority within seven days from the date the damage was caused, and the damage must not be repaired before an appraiser from the Property Tax arrives to examine it.
