Trump announces: American teacher released from Russia after 4 years in prison, 'without compensation'

|
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Russia has released American teacher Steven Hubbard, 74, who was arrested in Ukraine in 2022. Trump wrote that "Steven is on his way home and will soon be reunited with his family. The United States, out of respect for President Trump, was not required to give anything in return – an unprecedented situation with regard to Russia. This release did not require any 'exchange deal'. This significant return should have happened long ago under the Biden administration, which achieved no success in negotiations with the Kremlin."
