Solberg on AI video published by Smotrich: 'Distasteful and bitter – but no grounds for disqualification'

|
Central Elections Committee Chairman Justice Noam Solberg rejected two petitions against the AI video published by Religious Zionism and party leader Bezalel Smotrich, which depicted Supreme Court President Isaac Amit and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara as protesters holding signs against Smotrich, being dragged by police through burning streets. Solberg wrote in his decision that "watching the video was not easy for me from a personal perspective, due to the figures included in it, and its distasteful and bitter nature. However, in the petitions before me, I must address the legal aspect, not the personal one. In the absence of grounds – the video will stand for the judgment of the voter, not the judgment of election law."
