The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court convicted teacher Malachi Israel Benias, who admitted to impersonating another person to conceal his past as a sex offender so he could be hired as a teacher. Benias worked for about a year and a half at a Talmud Torah, teaching fourth and fifth grades. According to the indictment, he was under a supervision order following a previous conviction for a sex offense, which prohibited him from working in settings that allow contact with children. To be accepted at the school, he presented himself as 'Israel Spiegel' and used fake identity documents.
