Eyal Golan filed a complaint with police alleging extortion and false reporting. His attorney Tal Gabay stated that "this is one of the largest extortion cases in the country's history. They take Eyal Golan, extort him, and after he refuses to pay a fortune - they create a case out of nothing. In recent months we worked around the clock and compiled all the materials. We have ironclad evidence of severe extortion and false reporting. We transferred all the materials today to the Israel Police." Last December, police began investigating a complaint regarding sex offenses filed by a central district resident against Golan. After questioning associates, police said there was insufficient evidentiary basis to justify summoning Golan for questioning, and the case was closed.
