US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced that the United States will deploy three additional warships and approximately 2,500 marines to the Middle East in response to Iranian attempts to seize commercial vessels. The Central Command's goal is to safeguard international trade, maintain order, and prevent regional destabilization. These forces are in addition to those already sent earlier in the week.
