A Western security source told Saudi-owned Al-Hadath TV that Hezbollah began using maritime routes to transport weapons after the fall of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime.
According to the source, Iran’s Quds Force established a fast-track route for arms transfers away from Syria. “Iran will rely on maritime smuggling directly to Lebanon or via intermediary countries,” he said.
The source added that Quds Force Units 190 and 700 are responsible for sea-based weapons transfers. The smuggling plans reportedly hinge on Hezbollah’s control of the Port of Beirut. “Hezbollah operates freely at the port with the assistance of collaborators in customs and the port’s oversight authorities,” he said.
