U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said he will speak with his Israeli counterpart on Friday to discuss newly adjusted U.S. tariffs, following President Donald Trump’s surprise decision to temporarily ease sweeping import duties.
Greer told Fox News he is holding talks with officials from several countries, including Israel and Taiwan, after Trump on Wednesday froze most of the tariffs he had just imposed — though key levies on Chinese imports remain in effect.
“I have a full dance card,” Greer said, noting the administration’s push to diversify American imports and reduce reliance on Chinese goods.
“We do import a lot from China, and that actually, to me, underscores the urgency of the situation,” he said. Talks with Israel are expected to focus on securing long-term trade stability following weeks of uncertainty that rattled key economic sectors.
