Syria deal talk is 'premature and risky,' warns former U.S. Congress staffer

The former U.S. congressional adviser says Damascus cannot be trusted, despite global interest in restoring stability to Syria.

Dr. Fadi Essmaeel, former senior staffer in the U.S. Congress and a research fellow at Reichman University, said that any talk of a Syria agreement is premature and filled with risk.
While restoring Syrian state stability is in the interest of the U.S., Israel, and the global economy, Essmaeel cautioned that Damascus “cannot be trusted” and has never honored its commitments.
