Israeli forces killed a senior Hamas commander in an airstrike on a command and control center in Gaza City, the IDF said Thursday.
According to the military, the operation targeted Haitham Razek Abd al-Karim Sheikh Khalil, the commander of Hamas’ Shijaiyah Battalion.
The IDF said the site, located roughly one kilometer from Israeli troops operating in the area, was also used by several other Hamas operatives who were planning attacks against Israeli forces.
Khalil was appointed to the position after two previous commanders were killed during the war.
