Ministers vote to increase police stop and search authority

The government on Sunday voted to approve a proposal tabled by Justice Minister Gideon Saar that would widen the police's authority to conduct searches without court orders when a serious crime is suspected.
The move aims to increase the tools available to the police in their fight against the violent crime wave plaguing the Arab sector.
"We are at war," Saar siad. "I will be proposing more legislation to bolster the police's authority," he said.
