Macron proposes: UN body to secure Strait of Hormuz – after war ends

|
French President Emmanuel Macron raised the possibility of establishing a "UN framework" for future security of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz – once the fighting in Iran ends. Amid criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump of NATO countries, Macron estimated that the initiative "could help" and revealed that he discussed it with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other European leaders. "There is a feeling-out process that we have begun, and we will see in the coming days whether it has a chance to succeed," he added.
