The U.S. military has awarded American aerospace and defense giant Lockheed Martin a contract worth up to $58.6 billion to produce interceptor missiles for the Patriot system, the U.S. Department of Defense announced. This is the largest contract signed to date for the procurement of such interceptors. The contract will span seven years, from 2026 to 2032, and is designed to replenish U.S. stockpiles depleted by weapons supplies to allies and ammunition use in military operations against Iran.
