The Police Internal Investigations Department arrested five Border Police officers on suspicion of smuggling illegal residents into Israel for financial compensation. This was reported by the police, who added that the suspects were arrested following a covert investigation initiated after a report from the Border Guard. The five are currently being investigated, among other things, on suspicion of accepting bribes and breach of trust.
