The Palestinian Authority embassy in Cairo estimated that more than 115,000 Gazans have crossed the border into Egypt since the beginning of the war, after the events of October 7, the Washington Post reported, despite the Egyptian policy not to accept Palestinian refugees. According to the report, several thousand were treated in hospitals in Egypt, but most of the refugees arrived with the help of foreign embassies or as "tourists," and remained there without official refugee status.
