Gilboa Prison break investigation finds 'failures, deficiencies'

The Gilboa Prison Investigation Committee looking into the escape of Palestinian security prisoners in 2021 announced that it found "failures and deficiencies in all the core areas of the Israeli Security Service that deal with security prisoners: operations, intelligence, prisoner transfers and the treatment of security prisoners." According to the committee, these failures and deficiencies made the escape possible. The committee additionally warned four senior officers of the Israel Prison Service, after failures or deficiencies were found in them. As a result, no action will be taken against the prison service's commissioner and her deputy, but the commander of the northern district will be dismissed. (Meir Turgeman)
