Due to riots outside of the Israeli embassy in Mexico, in which graffiti was spray-painted reading "Liberate Palestine" and "Death to Zionism", the Israeli Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem announced that the Mexican ambassador to Israel will be summoned to receive a reprimand.
"We take this incident seriously and expect the Mexican government to stand by its international commitment," the ministry said.
The demonstrators demanded that Israel extradite Tomas Zeron, who served as head of the ACI, the Mexican equivalent of the U.S. FBI, following an incident in which 43 students were abducted and murdered about eight years ago, allegedly by police forces in collaboration with local criminal entities.
