Supreme Court President Amit: Firing of Shin Bet chief is 'unprecedented'

Supreme Court President Justice Yitzhak Amit called the dismissal of Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar “an unprecedented event” during Tuesday’s High Court hearing.
“We have convened to hear eight petitions filed against the government’s decision,” Amit said. “In essence, the petitions argue that the government did not act in accordance with its own procedures, which require decisions to be approved by the implementing committee. It is also claimed that the prime minister is operating under a conflict of interest.”
