The mayors of cities in central Israel including Tel Aviv, Ramat Hasharon, Herzliya, Ramat Gan and Givatayim all issued statements on Thursday, ensuring their citizens that they will not allow educational programs promoted by the radical right-wing Avi Maoz, a member of the incoming Netanyahu government, in schools in their jurisdictions.
Maoz who was given authority over Education Ministry extra curriculum programs in his coaition agreement with the Likud Party, had repeated his bigoted anti LGBTQ views in an interview.
