EU's von der Leyen welcomes Israel-Hamas truce deal

European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen said on Wednesday that she welcomed the agreement reached between Israel and Hamas on the release of the 50 hostages and on a pause in hostilities in Gaza. "The European Commission will do its utmost to use this pause for a humanitarian surge to Gaza," she said in a statement.
